Independence, IA (April 29, 2019) – The law firm of Roberts & Eddy, P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of Associate Attorney, Stephanie A. Sailer, to their legal team effective April 30, 2019.

Sailer grew up in Manchester, Iowa, a small town just east of Independence. Sailer graduated from West Delaware High School in 2011 and went on to attend college at the University of Northern Iowa, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in economics in 2014. During her time at UNI, Sailer was involved in the pre-law club, economics club, and the American Marketing Association. Sailer also worked as a part-time student at John Deere. Sailer said, “I worked on an international team, where we shipped tractor parts to different countries. I had the opportunity to work with diverse groups of people to implement systems to improve efficiency. The communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills I learned while working at John Deere have carried over to my role as an attorney.”

After college, Sailer attended her first year of law school at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. Sailer then transferred to Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa to complete her legal studies. During her time at Drake, Sailer was a student attorney at the Children’s Rights Clinic, where she represented abused or neglected children as their attorney and guardian-ad litem. “I developed a personal relationship with the children I represented. I was able to give them a voice in the court process and advocate for their best interests. It was a meaningful experience knowing that I was helping children have a better future,” Sailer said. “That’s what practicing law is all about – helping people.” During her time in Des Moines, Sailer also worked at law firms practicing in the areas of family law, civil rights, personal injury, employment, and medical malpractice.

After passing the bar exam, Sailer joined Sailer Law, PLLC in Cedar Falls, Iowa. There, Sailer practiced in the areas of juvenile law, family law, and estate planning. Sailer was also a staff attorney for a tribal child support agency. Sailer said, “Working as a staff attorney for a child support agency taught me the ins and outs of child support – how it’s calculated, how it’s enforced, and how government programs play a role in child support cases.”

“I am excited to join the Roberts & Eddy, P.C. team and continue to develop my skills as an attorney. I look forward to expanding my knowledge specifically in the areas of estate planning and probate. I enjoyed learning about this area in law school, and I recognize the value in planning for your future and that of your family,” said Sailer.

Sailer said, “I am also looking forward to getting involved in the Independence community. It is a great opportunity to build relationships and make a positive impact on others.” Sailer volunteered her time while in Cedar Falls when she served on the Board of Directors of the Cedar Valley United Way and on the Public Relations Committee of the Cedar Falls Community Foundation.
