Independence, IA (July 1, 2018) – The law firm of Roberts & Eddy, P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of Associate Attorney, Jeremy B. Hahn, to their legal team.

Hahn grew up in Amana, a small town just east of Iowa City, where he graduated from Clear Creek Amana high school in 2009 and played football, basketball and golf. Hahn said, “Football teaches you about teamwork and resiliency. You need those in law so you can work well with your clients.”

After graduating high school, Hahn attended the University of Iowa where he graduated in 2013. Hahn remains a big Hawkeye fan. “I learned a lot at Iowa. It really shaped my mindset when I got involved with the Dance Marathon. Even the toughest days still only last 24 hours. It’s true for life and for practicing law,” Hahn said. His wanderlust took hold as he moved to Valparaiso, IN, to seek his law degree, which he earned from Valparaiso University in 2016. “But,” Hahn said, “I grew up just an hour from Independence. College took me to different places and I learned a lot about myself, but I always knew I wanted to come back to Eastern Iowa to be near my family and friends. Being this close to all my nieces and nephews is a great perk to living in Independence.”

Hahn worked at Petersen Law Firm, PLLC, in Council Bluffs, IA, for the last two years handling real estate law, civil litigation, and probate law. “I really like probate law,” Hahn said, “I get to help families handle their affairs and doing the leg work so they don’t have to. Since I’ve come to Independence, I’ve seen the Midwest mindset in everyone. Three people offered to help me move in even though I only met them once. The best part about law is being able to help people in the community. I’ve never been one to just sit behind a desk.”

Hahn volunteered his time while in Council Bluffs when he served on the several Charitable Boards for the city. “Like anywhere, I want to positively impact the lives of the people in Independence. I’ve been so welcomed that I just want to dive right into the community,” said Hahn.

In addition to the work he did at Petersen Law Firm, Hahn enjoys being in the courtroom and handling civil litigation. “Being in the court room gets your blood flowing, it is a chance to show my clients and myself how much preparation we put in. I am excited to work at Roberts & Eddy, P.C. because I can learn more about taxation and business mergers which will really help me expand my horizons as an attorney,” Hahn said.

Alongside his legal interests, Hahn loves listening to music, playing guitar, working out, hunting and golfing in his spare time. Hahn is also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns. Hahn and his family raise pheasants to train hunting dogs for competition, hunting everywhere between North Dakota and Texas. “I’ve hunted turkey, duck, pheasant and deer. But those last two will always be my favorite,” said Hahn.

“The thing I like most about working at Roberts & Eddy, P.C. is that the firm is really interested in me as an individual. Brian [Eddy] in particular has been very interested in helping me grow personally and professionally since I got here. It’s just not treatment you get at every law firm. Independence is just like that. People are interested in you, and it is my favorite thing about living in a small town,” Hahn said.
